Geopolitics represents the specific approach to studying and interpenetrating
events on the global scene by taking into consideration the influence of the factors such as geography, history, culture, and technology of the given area of the world.
By including these factors in the overall analysis, geopolitics seeks to answer two key questions:
What will happen?
What to do about it?
Therefore, geopolitics has a predictive and a prescriptive dimension. This is why it is not surprising that the geopolitical approach is very frequently employed by the top military and other advisers who are close to the key political decision makers throughout human history. This is also why it is most urgent for everybody to acquire basic geopolitical knowledge in recognizing and being able to respond to global trends and tendencies.
Our aim at The American Geopolitical Society is to give people an education you cannot find any other place on the planet. We want to give people the tools to recognize past events/trends, and interpret current trends with tools to predict future events. This provides an understanding of what can be accomplished from a personal and professional level. By having a toolbox of information, which allows for very advanced and careful preparations; deep layering, multi-option planning, and use highly sophisticated tactical thinking can replace ignorant fear and losses.
“[American exceptionalism] is a reaction to the inability of people to understand global complexity or important issues like American energy dependency. Therefore, they search for simplistic sources of comfort and clarity. And the people that they are now selecting to be, so to speak, the spokespersons of their anxieties are, in most cases, stunningly ignorant.”
― Zbigniew Brzezinski
